3.2 Preprocessing

A 1-second duration of EEG signal is considered as one sample as shown in Fig. 2. There are 256 discrete signal intensity values in one sample since the sampling rate is 256 Hz. To reduce the training time of the proposed system, only 64 discrete intensity values are considered with a gap of 4 values. Then, 64 discrete intensity values are plotted for generating a 6464 image signal as shown in Fig. 3a. For each channel, the maximum and minimum signal intensity values are calculated and the intensity values are mapped into the corresponding row number. For example, the intensity values of column number 20 are mapped into row number 43 as shown in Fig. 3a. However, the plotted image shows that the generated line of the signal is not connected. So, the Bresenham line drawing algorithm is used to draw the connected line as shown in Fig. 3b. Hence, the dimension of the generated image of the signal is 6464.
